Brava Synthetic Slate & Shake Roofing

Composite slate and shake molded from the real thing, at a weight the framing does not have to be rebuilt for. It is the answer when the house wants slate or cedar and the structure — or the maintenance budget — says no.

The inspection is free, with a plain answer about what the roof needs.

Choose brava synthetic tile when

  • The house wants slate and the framing will not carry it. Natural slate is a structural decision; Brava is a roofing one.
  • You want cedar's texture with none of its maintenance cycle.
  • You are in a hail corridor and want the Class 4 rating without going to metal.
  • An HOA or historic review specifies a slate or shake profile.

When it is the wrong answer

  • Budget is the deciding factor. This is the premium end of what we install, and we will say so rather than steer you into it.
  • The roof is a simple, low-visibility plane where nobody will ever see the profile you paid for.
How the job runs

Installing brava synthetic tile, step by step.

  1. 01

We confirm the profile against the review board first

In Franklin and the historic districts, the profile has to pass before it is ordered. That conversation happens before the estimate, not after the delivery.

  2. 02

    Color blending on the ground

Brava is supplied in color ranges rather than one flat tone. The blend is laid out and agreed before it goes up, because a roof is not a place to discover you dislike the mix.

  3. 03

    Installed to the authorization

The installation detail is what the manufacturer's coverage rests on. We are an authorized representative and install to that standard.

Questions

What people ask us first.

Does it actually look like slate from the ground?
It is molded from natural slate, so the surface texture is a casting of the real material rather than a printed pattern. From the street the tell is uniformity — real slate varies more, which some people prefer and some do not.
What does Class 4 impact rating mean for me?
It is the highest of the four UL impact classes. Some insurers discount premiums for a Class 4 roof; whether yours does is worth a phone call to them before you decide.
Why go to you rather than any roofer who can order it?
Because the authorization is about installation, not purchasing. Manufacturer coverage on a composite system depends on it being installed the way the manufacturer specifies, and an authorized representative is who they hold to that.
