Furniture and electronics out from under the drip; a bucket under the leak; towels around the bucket. You are buying time, not fixing anything, and that is the correct goal right now.

If the ceiling is bulging, pierce it
Counter-intuitive and correct. A bulge is a pocket of water held by paint. A small hole at the lowest point drains it into your bucket; leaving it means the whole section comes down at once, and that is a ceiling instead of a patch.

Photograph everything before you touch it
Wide shots and close shots, with the date. If this becomes an insurance claim, the photographs taken before the clean-up are worth more than any taken after it.
